our History
OU Chavis Construction was founded by Odysseus Ur Chavis, whose experience in construction and design spans more than 30 years across residential, commercial, and multi-family projects throughout North Carolina.
The company began in 1991 as a sole proprietorship focused on custom design-build homes known for quality craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and long-term value. After nearly 17 years working with local architectural and interior design firms, O.U. Chavis Contracting Corporation was officially incorporated in 2000 with Odysseus Ur Chavis serving as Owner and President.
Today, OU Chavis Construction specializes in commercial construction, project management, renovations, additions, and interior upfits for public and private sector clients throughout North Carolina.

Odysseus UR Chavis
Oddy’s responsibilities include overseeing all the day to day operations.
Prior to starting this construction company I gained experience in Architecture and Interior Design as a Job Captain/Senior CAD Designer with Moser Mayer Phoenix Associates PA (MMPA), and Clinton E. Gravely, AIA, Architect & Associates with both firms Architecture, Engineering, and Interior Designer services.
Oddy obtained a BS Degree in Department of Housing and Interior Design from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
In his spear time Oddy enjoys spending time with his wife Phyllis, two Sons, three grandchildren, family and friends.
Odysseus UR Chavis II
Oddy II’s responsibilities include Senior Project Manager and Estimating; and assisting with all the daily operations of the company.
In 2011 Oddy II joined the company as a project manager and superintendent, and quickly became Vice President was trusted with daily executive responsibilities.
Oddy II obtained a BS in Construction Management at East Carolina University. He honestly believes that maintaining lasting relations is key as Team work makes the dream work while being insistent that the upmost in quality be evident in all work completed by O.U.Chavis Contracting Corporation.
In his spear time Oddy II loves spending quality time with his wife Kendra, and their three children, Kennah, Karah, OUC III, family and friends. He enjoys Sports events like Football, Baseball, and Golf as my new love being Gymnastic thanks to my daughters.
