Our Mission
Our mission is to build a reputable contracting company with the commitment to client service by providing reasonable cost, quality construction, and timely performance with a workforce that believes in honor, excellence, integrity, and equal opportunity.
Our History
Chavis Construction was established in May of 1991 as a sole proprietor with NC General Contracting License held in my name, Odysseus Ur Chavis. Chavis Construction began by constructing custom design-build residential homes for private clients that ranged in size from approximately 3,500 GSF to 6,000 GSF.
After almost 17 years of employment with local Architectural and Interior Design firms, from 1984 to 2000, O.U. Chavis Contracting Corporation was founded on June 29th, 2000 by Odysseus Ur Chavis as the Owner & President.
The focus of our company is to provide general contracting services including project and construction management. Though the foundation of our company was the construction of affordable sustainable quality private, public, and multi-family housing; since 2010 our focus has moved towards commercial construction including new, additions, renovations, and interior upfits.
Meet the team
ODYSSEUS UR CHAVIS
Owner/President
Oddy’s responsibilities include overseeing all the day to day operations.
Prior to starting this construction company I gained experience in Architecture and Interior Design as a Job Captain/Senior CAD Designer with Moser Mayer Phoenix Associates PA (MMPA), and Clinton E. Gravely, AIA, Architect & Associates with both firms Architecture, Engineering, and Interior Designer services.
Oddy obtained a BS Degree in Department of Housing and Interior Design from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
In his spear time Oddy enjoys spending time with his wife Phyllis, two Sons, three grandchildren, family and friends.
ODYSSEUS UR CHAVIS, II
Vice President,Senior Project Manager & Estimator
Oddy II’s responsibilities include Senior Project Manager and Estimating; and assisting with all the daily operations of the company.
In 2011 Oddy II joined the company as a project manager and superintendent, and quickly became Vice President was trusted with daily executive responsibilities.
Oddy II obtained a BS in Construction Management at East Carolina University. He honestly believes that maintaining lasting relations is key as Team work makes the dream work while being insistent that the upmost in quality be evident in all work completed by O.U.Chavis Contracting Corporation.
In his spear time Oddy II loves spending quality time with his wife Kendra, and their three children, Kennah, Karah, OUC III, family and friends. He enjoys Sports events like Football, Baseball, and Golf as my new love being Gymnastic thanks to my daughters.
